Today We Celebrate Life

Statement

House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy (CA-23) issued the following statement in support of the pro-life movement.

"Today is more than a moment. It's a movement that uplifts the entire nation.

"Being pro-life should not be a partisan issue. It's about who we are as a nation and what we as a people believe. America was founded on the proposition that all men are created equal. Not born equal. Created equal. Unborn children deserve equal protection under the law.

"It has been an eye-opening year for the cause of life in America, and we have made significant progress in defending our youngest and most vulnerable.

"Recently, the Supreme Court heard oral arguments for the Dobbs case, which would allow the state of Mississippi to prohibit abortions after 15 weeks, recognizing the advancements in science and when children can begin feeling pain.

"House Republicans will continue to look for every opportunity to preserve and increase protections of human life -- from making the Hyde Amendment permanent and passing the Born Alive Survivors Protection Act to holding the Biden Administration accountable. We must always be vigilant.

"Our work is far from done, but we will always fight to save as many children as possible. No human life is expendable. Life is a miracle. It should be celebrated, enjoyed, and above all, protected."
